Named after his grandfather who planted the family’s first vines in 1930, this Grignolino was his favourite, a regional grape that was traditionally fermented & aged in cement for 7 months, then bottled without fining or filtration under the buona moon to capture some of that potent energy (!). Lifted & light but with bold acid and tannins, this ruby-hued wine reveals a deep, yawning complexity with perky aromatics – earthy cherry, redcurrant, blood orange, ripe plum, black pepper, fresh violets, smoke, clove & saddle leather from stables, wrapped up with neat acid and lengthy, floral tannins. Keep this savoury stunner close at hand for big, cozy dinners at home by candlelight.
