Innocent & savoury Sicilian red with nothing but the best intentions. Winemaker Vito Lauria is a Sicilian local and after studying winemaking in Friuli, returned home in 2005 to take over his family's 70 hectares in the west of Sicily. His focus is on organic viticulture & regional Sicilian varieties. This cuvée is from the region’s most famous red grape, nerello mascalese, organically farmed on clay and calcareous soils. A bright and earthy red fermented and aged in stainless steel to preserve its fresh-a-licious qualities. Walnuts, wild plums, fresh nutmeg, chokecherry, rhubarb with dirt, dry oregano, warm Italian tannins that tug at your sleeve & brisk red currant acidity. Put a light chill on it and enjoy with the knowledge that Spring IS coming.
