Originally from Alsace, punk rockin’ vigneron Vincent Marie’s six hectares of organic and biodynamically tended vines in Auvergne are 5 to 120 years old, and thriving! A freaky, ethereal and flourishing volcanic pinot pour tu! Originally from Alsace, punk rockin’ vigneron Vincent Marie’s six hectares of organic and biodynamically tended vines in Auvergne are 5 to 120 years old, and thriving! His terroir is grounded by soils of both ancient and recent volcanic activity, bestowing an expansive and distinctive mineral quality to the 5-7 cuvées he produces annually. The pinot noir for ‘Pour 2’ comes from the basalt soils of another local, organic producer in the region that Vincent purchased in both 2023 and 2024. In both years, the grapes saw a whole bunch maceration for 10-12 days, before being moved into barrels for aging. FUN FACT! The vintages were blended to find balance between a HOT 2023 and much cooler 2024! Flinty like a dragons den inside a semi-dormant volcano, flowers on fire, ethereal volatility, shovels of earth, rich, verdant and savoury herbs with filigree tannins, forest bramble & wild strawberries. Enjoy with two seared seared duck breasts and a bowl of honey roasted beets…just enough for two.
