A lifted, savoury, and sumptuous Australian grenache to peak your interest. Ochota Barrels is one of the most beloved natural wineries in Southern Australia. After skilled winemaker Taras Ochota passed suddenly in 2020, his wife Amber and the rest of the Ochota team have continued the project with passion, strength and continuously delightful releases – like this one! The ‘Green Room’ grenache comes from the certified organic Grancari vineyard which was planted in 1946 in red, loamy-clay soils with ironstone, limestone and schist. The grapes were a mix of whole cluster, destemmed and carbonically macerated for between 8-23 days to extract tactility, maintain juiciness and uplift aromatics before being pressed off and aged in French barriques for a few months to combine their powers. A spiced, time-turned and concentrated nose of bouillon cube, with satsuma rind, plum pudding, garrigue herbs, white pepper crack, sand garden tannins & a juicy centre of pomegranate and red berries. Pour alongside steak with chimichurri, aji verde on roasted chicken or mushroom tacos doused in salsa verde.
