A gentle, yet firm aromatic orange from an historic estate. Olivier Coste now directs his family’s ancestral Domaine Montrose founded in 1701 in the small commune of Pèzenac. The familial plot has passed through nine generations—no surprise that preserving the land for generations to come is at the forefront of Olivier’s process. Planted on calcareous soil (calcium-rich clay of marine life passed) the floral Muscat à Petit Grain and stonefruit-ed Grenache Gris make up this bright, coastal orange. Each grape sees seven days of skin contact before masterful blending, concrete fermentation and stainless steel aging maintaining the fruit’s innate freshness. Early evening park bench wine, lima orange gingham, sea-soaked and sun-dried grapefruit, salted mint and stone fruit salad, gentle wave-breaking tannins. Pair with Mamma Mia (2008) and, of course, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018) projected on an old garage door.
