a wink from spring
Tsitska, Chkhaveri, Dzelshavi & Aladasturi, Imereti, Georgia

Bastien Warskotte came from a winegrowing family in Champagne and worked at wineries around the world—including Nova Scotia’s very own Benjamin Bridge!—before falling in love with his now-wife Nino Gvantseladze and starting Ori Marani in 2016. Bastien Warskotte came from a winegrowing family in Champagne and worked at wineries around the world—including Nova Scotia’s very own Benjamin Bridge!—before falling in love with his now-wife Nino Gvantseladze and starting Ori Marani in 2016. Focusing on regional varietals fermented in traditional clay amphora qvevri, their wines not only speak to the 8000-year legacy of Georgian winemaking but the new wave of winemakers putting Georgia on the map. Each grape is vinified separately in qvevri and old French oak with a portion done semi-carbonically, then blended with additional aging and lightly filtered with no fining and a touch of sulphur. Bastien calls this “a wink to better days that come after winter,” the first gasps of spring after a long winter, somehow bottled into an herby and singular rosé! Almost like a savoury, botanical Provence-style rosé with benefits – hibiscus, corn husks, cranberry-infused water, tangy rhubarb, dusty white florals & bitter lemon pith with a whiff of ginger & shaved button mushrooms. Put a chill on it, drink during golden hour, ride off into the sunset & have the happiest ending!

We don't know if you've heard this, but Canada is a truly WILD place to import wine. Each province is it's own country with super strict rules. For ages, so much of the very best natural wine never made it into the province. That is changing in such an exciting way. We started our own import company to bring you some of our very favourite wines from around the world at the sharpest prices - this allows us to travel, fall in love with a wine, and bring right to your doorstep without a middle person. Put simply, as the importer, we shave one layer off the supply chain. We offer these sweet wholesale discounts when you bundle. From 1, 3 to 6 packs you'll find serious savings. The GWI sticker - Grape Witch Imports - means not only that we strongly stand behind the producer, it also means you won't find a better deal anywhere else in town. It also allows us to source many wines just for the shop - you'll find Ontario exclusives marked GWIE - Grape Witch Import Exclusive. Are you a licensee or producer looking to join our imports roster? Send us an email at hello@grapewitchimports.com
