In 2018, Pearl Morisette discovered some surprisingly robust Cabernet Franc growing in their home vineyard, happy and thriving, hence the name Racine du Ciel, or Roots of the Sky. Despite its youth, these grapes have the wise old soul of a 200-year-old chestnut tree - on first inspection you may think you’re getting a super classic deep red wine, but it reveals itself to be a bit of a granola-loving spiritual guide, equally full of knowledge as it is carefree fun. Super complex but utterly drinkable - black and red fruit juicy juice, smooth and soft with perfect tannin structure. Like the platonic ideal drizzle of old balsamic or the last bite of fancy dark chocolate. Still waters run deep.
