These are all terms used to describe a wine that is made by adding water to leftover grape bits (pomace) with so much flavour still to give after a primary wine has been squeezed out of ‘em. Reach for them for a low alcohol, fresh and delicious low-waste option at a breezy price. We loved this one from Last House, a BRAND new to the market, small batch winery situated on the beautiful limestone shores of Lake Ontario. Typically a sparkling bevy, this darling still piquette was made with the pomace from their oldest pinot noir parcel. Rose-hip candy, freeze dried raspberry, hibiscus tea & Cherie Currie singing “CH-CH-CH-CH-CH-CHERRY BOMB!”. Pour alongside chicken tenders and thick wedge fries.
