Resting between Rheinhessen and the Mosel, the Pieroth family have been cultivating vineyards in Nahe since 1781, working to translate the volcanic, limestone and slate-rich soils through the region’s famous grapes and into our lucky mouths. Growing in its reputation as a low-intervention HUB, the steep slopes and cool climate Nahe provides is an ideal environment for sustainable viticulture, and seeing this potential, current winemaker Christine is moving the estate into biodynamic farming. FUN FACT! Christine’s labels show local flora that she collected in or around her vineyard sites, handprinted on fabric and made into labels! The organic, 30-year-old riesling vines are grown on stony loam, semi-carbonically fermented for one week and aged on lees to bring richness and grounding to the carbonic levity! Passionfruit sorbet, underripe pineapple, melon rind, key lime zest, fresh rosehips, gas pump & spring honey on milk toast. Pour alongside sweet and sour pork and your favourite concerto.
