A wildly unique, salty and Burgundy-esque Styrian white with a hybrid twist! Joined by partner Selina Weratschnig, Manuel is the 3rd generation in his family to take over the 11 hectares of Ploder-Rosenberg vineyards. There he continues the biodynamic practices of his parents on the volcanic soils of south-eastern Styria, also known as Austria’s ‘Green Heart’ for its verdant landscapes. FUN FACT! Over the years they have been planting more and more PIWIs (hybrids crossed with european grapes) for their hardiness, which today make up 75% of their vineyards. Souvignier gris featured in this wine is their primary grape! This allows less spraying, and a truly sustainably made product. The blend of 25-year-old mineral, tropical hybrid bronner (65%), spiced, tree-fruity souvignier gris (25%), and floral, plush pinot blanc (10%) for ‘Cara’ are gently macerated and aged on lees for 18 months to capture texture and aromatics. For the texture lover. Grapefruit oil, straw, tobacco, dried quince, salt packed herbs, meadow breeze, rising brioche, crispy minerality & honey nougat. Enjoy with tacos.
