We can never get enough of Austrian winemaker Claus Preisinger’s iconic red, Puszta Libre!, and at long last its cousin has come to town to meet the intense demands of our thirst!! While the rest of Austria is better known for ultra-classic whites, the small region of Burgenland where Claus produces his fine nectars has become a hub for buzzy organic and biodynamic wines that seem to pop like a fruit gusher or much-needed back-cracking. The ‘Rosza Libre!,’ made from tart rotburger (80%) and bawdy st. laurent (20%), is the conversation starter, the one with the quirky questions like do you think there’s an animal that thinks humans are cute? Or is it more of a one-way street?
