Nebbiolo often seems like it’s wearing a cloak of invisibility, SO clear in colour but ROBUST as heck underneath. This deceptive beauty is from winemakers and siblings Alberto and Caterina, who have taken over the family winery & brought it back to its roots. Located in the commune of La Morra, inside the heart of the prestigious Barolo area, the small property has seven hectares, with plots up to 80 years of age. Of the four sub-varieties of nebbiolo traditionally grown in the Alba area, ‘lampia’ is the most popular and reliable. These grapes are from their youngest vines, macerated for six days before six months in large wooden casks so as to limit influence from the wood. Classic in all the right ways and simply hitting the spot. Dried wild roses, anise, strawberry-pomegranate pop, worn leather, mint swipe & dusty Earth. Pour alongside homemade butternut ravioli!
