A whimsically aromatic, energetic and mineral Mosel riesling. Winemaker Stefan has been in charge of the Steinmetz estate since 1999; he was only 18 years old when he began! Today he farms 12 hectares of treacherously steep slopes in one of the world’s most famous regions. Devoted to organic viticulture, Stefan is interested in combining tradition and experimentation, while working with minimal intervention in the cellar to create honest expressions that truly TICKLE our tastebuds. FUN FACT! The extremely slopes of the region result in the vines only being worked by hand! Hand picked from their "vulture slate" vineyard, which is planted to 65-year-old vines in a cooler valley of the Mosel, the wine spends eleven months on the lees and comes to us with a titillating 12g/l of residual sugar, which perfectly balances the racy acidity. Tobacco and elderflowers, peach rings, grilled citrus powder, herb garden, pink lady apple dipped in honey, hot slate minerality & a leesy softness. Age for a few years or drink tomorrow, and enjoy alongside a platter of in-season seafood.
