A citric and mineral, brand NEW offering from a zero-zero STAR! Since leaving his former mentor Gerald Oustric of Le Mazel, Sylvain Bock has settled in the town of Alba-la-Romaine, acquired eight hectares of organically certified vines, and begun producing his intensely TASTY and compelling lineup. His vines are spread across two terroirs: limestone in the south and basalt further north on the slopes of an extinct volcano. FUN FACT! He treats the vines with horsetail decoctions and herbal teas to stimulate the plant's natural defences, allowing him to reduce copper sprays! ‘Quatre Quarts’, or “pound cake”, is assembled kind of like a baking recipe, and includes a blend of direct-pressed and skin-contact chardonnay and sauvy b from both the 2023 and 2024 vintages! Fennel in bloom, wisteria, yellow pear meets apple juice, iridescent and utilitarian like an abalone inlayed pocket knife, grass, plentiful minerality, a creamy texture & a well-matched citric acidity. Enjoy with a spring cheese platter, radishes, butter and fresh focaccia on the side.
