Pinot Bianco, Garganega & Malvasia di Candia, Lombardy, Italy

A plump, puckering and pleasing Lombardy bubble we would commit a (minor) felony for. Young, passionate winegrower and maker Paolo Pasini, and author/NYC *star* sommelier turned maker Amanda Smeltz have teamed up and are representing LAMBRUSCO in new, sincere and groundbreaking ways. Paolo’s three hectares of familial river valley vineyards in Mantova sit right at the intersection of Veneto and Emilia-Romagna, here he works to honourably represent the Lambrusco family, alongside long-planted, international grapes adapted to the area’s particular microclimate. ‘Melampo’ is a fully destemmed, direct-pressed blend of 5-10 year-old, citric pinot bianco (45%), picked first and fermented alone, while the mineral, delicately herbal garganega (45%) and highly aromatic, tropical malvasia di candia (10%) are picked together and co-fermented. FUN FACT! The grapes are harvested from two estate parcels planted on highly draining alluvial soils – for you soil curious, the soils are limestone and sand predominately, with a very deep base of pure white clay! Yellow angel food cake, skin of a white peach, saltwater pool, unripe apple acidity, crunchy nectarine, mushroom gills, lil white chocolate plushness & rocks. A food craving honey of a wine, pour alongside brook trout with brown butter, caper, dill and lemon pan sauce.

We don't know if you've heard this, but Canada is a truly WILD place to import wine. Each province is it's own country with super strict rules. For ages, so much of the very best natural wine never made it into the province. That is changing in such an exciting way. We started our own import company to bring you some of our very favourite wines from around the world at the sharpest prices - this allows us to travel, fall in love with a wine, and bring right to your doorstep without a middle person. Put simply, as the importer, we shave one layer off the supply chain. We offer these sweet wholesale discounts when you bundle. From 1, 3 to 6 packs you'll find serious savings. The GWI sticker - Grape Witch Imports - means not only that we strongly stand behind the producer, it also means you won't find a better deal anywhere else in town. It also allows us to source many wines just for the shop - you'll find Ontario exclusives marked GWIE - Grape Witch Import Exclusive. Are you a licensee or producer looking to join our imports roster? Send us an email at hello@grapewitchimports.com
