An Italian red for the whole damn fam, this ripe n’ fruity blend of juicy barbera, merlot, dolcetto & cortese from Piedmont will end spats, quarrels & sibling rivalries. Valli Unite is a collective farm with a firm goal of making natural, respectable wines at an accessible price, while also paying every worker a living wage (hell yeah). After a quick three days on skins, grapes aged in concrete for just the right amount of breath. ‘Alessandrino’ and its sharpie-drawn, Picasso-y portrait on the label is an ode to one of the vineyard’s main winemakers, Alessandro Poretti. Why’s it like him? It’s easy-going, yet not without a dose of lifted & intriguing complexity: liquorice all sorts, violet skies, brambly blackberry bush – Alessandro takes you on an even-grounded hike wearing a CamelBak with two straws. When you reach the clearing, order a wood-fired & saucy pizza cut just in half. ‘Alessandrino’ is wanting for marinara.
