A tarty-fruity & earthy-juicy red with a country twang edge! Winemakers Lieux Communs are a small, urban winery in Montreal that work with vineyards, orchards, and small farms across Quebec and Ontario, while still tending their own vines in Oka. Unrestrained and experimental, they live and die by their relentless curiosity using all that grows on their farm – flowers, tea, herbs, berries, honey, and grapes, but of course! They’ve got a real thing for hybrid grapes (naturally crossed to increase sustainability and resiliance), and the ‘Chapitre’ shows how mighty de chaunac – one of the first hybrid grapes to make it across the Atlantic in North America – can be. At first taste, it reminded us of the tiniest of red currants, freeze-dried strawberry dust, wearing hot lips candy on your actual lips (as a kid… or now), root vegetables over the fire Francis Mallmann style, fruit & nut dairy milk bar, zipping through the country in the back of a cherry truck & the thrill of feeling the first perfectly crunchy fall leaf beneath your shoe. With all this fall-feeling business ‘Chapitre’ is asking in a sweet southern drawl to be the cranberry sauce to your most succulent roast turkey!
