A still pinot from Champagne? Pardon? Is this even allowed? The answer is YES and it’s one of the most stunning hidden gem bottles we know. Halfway between Burgundy and Champagne is Riceys & winemakers Marie and Olivier Horiot. Together they have been producing exceptional ferments since 1999 – specifically known for their still wines, ultra-rare rosés & incredibly evocative Champagnes. Riceys is the only Champagne village where three different appellations coexist, two of which produce still wines – Coteaux Champenois and Rosé de Riceys. Produced in minute amounts, this still wine is a true curiosity, made of 100% pinot noir from a selection of old vines (from En Barmont). White cherry sorbet, graphite slab, tranquil tannins, cherry tomato on the vine, violets and mushrooms growing side-by-side. Pour alongside dirty lil secrets, escape routes & any and all loop holes!
