You’d be hard pressed to find anyone who’s tried the incredibly joyful & vibrant wines of Martin & Anna Arndorfer & isn’t completely smitten with them. Made in Lower Austria (which confusingly, is actually in the northeast), they’re all about a classic with a twist, balancing youthful experimentation with the precision of tradition & experience, a truly Libra-friendly proposition! Grapes were mostly fermented as whole clusters before being aged for six months and bottled with a touch of sulphur and without fining or filtration. Hitting the sweet spot between natty & nice, this is a dark-fruited, light-bodied wine which sounds contradictory until you try it – spiced blackberry, third-wave Ethiopian coffee, black peppercorns, a whiff of Terry’s chocolate orange, oxblood leather pants & that slightly dusty, purple fruit florality that Austrian reds tend to have. Drink on a Saturday and pair with two, excellent Saturday-themed disco bangers: ‘Get Down Saturday Night’ and ‘Saturday Love.’
