Oooh you’re really about to GET IT with this zero-zero salty, brainy & restless Alsatian macération that’s here to steal the warm, amber spotlight. Winemakers Mathilde and Florian Beck-Hartweg practice organic farming in a Medieval-looking town and their own domaine dates back to the 16th century! Despite the Old Land feel of their origins, Beck-Hartweg’s wines are decidedly contemporary – like Berlin after-hours gallery with the whole polycule kind of contemporary. Floral gewürz (80%), bracing riesling (10%) & soft pinot gris (10%) spent a baker’s fortnight on their skins, giving the tannins just the *right* fine suede texture. Aromas are more layered than a villain’s clubhouse: free lychee candies with the restaurant cheque, stewed oranges, straw mattress, jasmine incense, & concrete after the rain. It’s hand-holding in kid gloves; it’s saline eye drops after an eyes-half-closed kind of week. Pairs well with slamming the laptop shut and scheming to take over the world.
