2019, Chardonnay & Grenache Noir, Ardèche, France
A Sauternes-reminiscent, colour-bending cuvée that is, “very special to us – but also special in general”- A&A. Anders and Anne produce some of the most unpredictable, food-craving & “come what may” boasting wines, that it has become their signature style. In 2019 they wanted to make a chardonnay, but when the juice didn’t quite fit their hopes and dreams, they began experimenting, first by adding direct pressed grenache noir juice, grenache noir rosé juice, and finally, a few destemmed whole grenache noir grapes were macerated in the juice for a little more than six weeks, pulling an affluent tannin framework. FUN FACTS! The wine was never topped up, is left with 36 grams of RS (residual sugars) and was finally bottled in august, 2023! A cross-pollination of oxidization, dessert and aperitif style wine! Toffee stuck in your molar, bulk shop dried apricot bin, rose-y, floral tannins, apple cellar, fall herbs, a rich, bulbous structure & succinct acidity staking a flag on the top of the world. Enjoy while fiddling with your latest craft obsession, cyanotypes, air-dry clay or flower pressing anyone?
