Dirk Niepoort is largely credited with leading Portugal’s natural wine revolution, no small task! In order to emphasize the Douro character, Dirk sourced vineyard blocks at altitude with mica-schist soils, necessary for true expression of the stony charactered valley. A charged field blend of local grapes from 20-50 year old vines (including but not limited to Rabigato, Códega do Larinho, Gouveio, Dona Branca, Viosinho, and Bical)! Tight knots of kadota fig, sour melon, lemon thistle and meadow grass with a wash of fine salts & driving, Douro spicy-acidity. Pour alongside fresh river fishes & watching Portugal (Ronaldo) play footie!
