Dolcetto is what the Piedmontese drink while they wait for all their hefty, tannic, and contemplative wines to age, namely the Barolos and Barbarescos. As such, it might be THE definition of a Weekday banger. Having red sauce pasta for dinner? Pizza? Something with Mushrooms? Maybe a flank steak or some other cheaper cut? A Burger? A cheesy casserole? This is the wine for a celebration of the everyday. And a lower octane (lower alcohol), no sulphur-added Dolecetto at that? Truly a gift from Bacchus himself. Ferdinando Principano’s family has been farming in the appellation of Barolo for generations and in the sea of conventional yet highly prized Barolo vineyards, his stand out with life. Unusually for the area, he farms organically and practices minimal intervention in the cellar. The ‘Dosset’ (regional dialect for Dolcetto) is the epitome of drinkable. Vivino says this wine has 92 mentions of red fruit notes and with bright, juicy notes of cherry, red current and red plum, they are bang on.
