Forlorn Hope’s Queen of the Sierra wines are their entry-level estate wines, which is literally insane because if they were any other producer’s top tier we would accept it in a heartbeat. It’s sort of like when Lou Reed said “My week beats your year”. . .

Forlorn Hope’s Queen of the Sierra wines are their entry-level estate wines, which is literally insane because if they were any other producer’s top tier we would accept it in a heartbeat. It’s sort of like when Lou Reed said “My week beats your year” — Forlorn Hope’s entry level beats your premier cru. The white is a blend of native Portuguese grape Verdelho, familiar faces Chardonnay & Riesling & a handful of other German/Alsatian varietals; Verdelho & Riesling were foot-trod before co-fermenting in tank, meanwhile Chard was on its own journey, whole-cluster pressed and aged in neutral oak. The end result is a sunlit good mood daydream of a wine, a wine to drink on a day when you woke up on the right side of the bed, then immediately checked your phone to see that you received an extremely cute text from your crush! There are so many lovable facets to this wine but texturally is where it really sets itself apart from the pack: silky, unctuous & glacé, like a Jolly Rancher made of sunlight. Fruit flavours are tropical but tranquil: pineapple sorbet, soft papaya, clementine mist, ripe white peach. Restrained citrus & a subdued mineral backbone from the limestone & schist soils of FH’s Rorick Heritage Vineyard keep the tropical blowout in check. Unfiltered & unfined with minimal sulfur, this wine is honest, pure & charismatic. Drink while listening to all the songs from your childhood you most want to sing along to, unabashedly & who cares if you’re out of tune?

We don't know if you've heard this, but Canada is a truly WILD place to import wine. Each province is it's own country with super strict rules. For ages, so much of the very best natural wine never made it into the province. That is changing in such an exciting way. We started our own import company to bring you some of our very favourite wines from around the world at the sharpest prices - this allows us to travel, fall in love with a wine, and bring right to your doorstep without a middle person. Put simply, as the importer, we shave one layer off the supply chain. We offer these sweet wholesale discounts when you bundle. From 1, 3 to 6 packs you'll find serious savings. The GWI sticker - Grape Witch Imports - means not only that we strongly stand behind the producer, it also means you won't find a better deal anywhere else in town. It also allows us to source many wines just for the shop - you'll find Ontario exclusives marked GWIE - Grape Witch Import Exclusive. Are you a licensee or producer looking to join our imports roster? Send us an email at hello@grapewitchimports.com
