Like creating a core memory in your memory-bank of natty Jura whites. Karnage is the exciting and unpredictable collaboration of two friends, fresh-to-the-ferment-biz and wine shop owner Stéphane Planche with accomplished winemaker (anyone ever taste Domaine de l’Octavin??) Charles Dagand. Together they have developed THIS, their zero-zero, négoce (bought fruit) winemaking operation in Arbois, working with grapes from their farming friends all over the south of France. A detour from the more quaffable bottles in this year's lineup ~ proudly holding their tantalizing ’DRINK NOW’ signs, high for all to see ~ instead ’Kroseille’ is more EaRThy. Intentionally lightly oxidized during its 11 months of texture bestowing lees aging. Smelling like cellar stored beets, with sour-fruit-roll-up, salt cured pineapple, peach custard, candied carrot, mineral netting, cucumber water mouthfeel, amber resin & a slight carrot top bitterness to balance. Kinda like a lighter, whacked-out and crispy vin jaune, so treat it as such – enjoy with taleggio, comté & reverence.
