A textural, twiggy and complex Tuscan pièce de résistance. One of GW Imports newest Italian producers, meet La Ginestra! La Ginestra is a worker-owned and managed Tuscan farm spanning 130 hectares, with 7.5 under vine, and the rest home to roaming cows, 700 beehives, pigs, legumes and grains. Dario Nocci is both winemaker and part-owner who came from a conventional wine education background, but shed that restrictive skin in favour of creating wines that breathe with life. Named after a small farm next to the vineyard, the blend of tart, tropical-leaning trebbiano (80%) and floral, mineral malvasia toscana (10%) are whole-cluster, semi-carbonically macerated for six days to lift, then a small portion of direct-pressed sangiovese (10%) is added for a peck of acid. An indulgent pasta water leesiness we won’t forget anytime soon, pithy bitters link up to brown twiggy tannins, a chalky weight, many starfruits, hawthorn & a slightly bloody minerality, like the centre of the Earth bit its cheek a lil too hard. Enjoy with parmesan fritters and readings of Jonathan Gold’s Counter Intelligence.
