The wines of La Perdida are a global phenomenon that took root when, the then biologist, Nacho Gonzales was gifted a parcel of grapes by his all too wise grandmother. #RespectYourElders. The epitome of tErrOIr, these cuvées are singular, accumulated expressions of location, grape, time & winemaker, all come together so honestly, they irrevocably lodge themselves into your brain. Coming from granite soils, the blend of several regional varieties includes: cherried mencía, sweet-spiced garnacha, rare, teinturier (red-pulped), deep grao negro, herbaceous doña branca, citric godella, mineral palomino and herbal mouratón (or juan garcía), which were all fermented together and rested for six months in old oak barrels to enmesh. The deepest, rarest and most hefty of his offerings, ‘Aloira’ is all about MUCHNESS! Magenta hued, caramel and concentrated cooked-down fruit, smoke in the air, chocolate mousse fullness, sand, black and Szechuan peppercorn bushes, wood, prune juice, sour cherry acidity, chunky minerality, wild stallions & a mint coolness on the end. Drink tonight or age for several moons and pour alongside great friends and the biggest tomahawk you can get your hands on.
