Field Blend, Douro Valley, Portugal
Charming and hopeful, like the cutie who eagerly reads through all of the ‘missed connections’ posts on Craigslist. A field blend of red and white grapes grown in the Douro Valley, the oldest regulated wine region in the world (declared in 1756!). The Valley is known for its fortified wine, Port, but in more recent years has been surprising us with its accessible and noteworthy wines, can any one say NAT COOL. Meet the big sib standout ‘Voyeur’, harvested from 40-50 year old vines, grown in high-lying vineyards imparting a refreshing aromatic profile developed by 8 months of fermentation and ageing in beeswax lined, clay amphora. Ruby brick in colour, with fruit blossoms, silken herbal braids, red currant and acai popsicle, deep sea salt & Earthy tobacco roll. Chill down and drink alongside warm & herby Portuguese Arroz de Pato (Duck Rice) while stroking your kindly lap dog.
