We love Romarantin. Like a plushy wearing a vinyl gown, perfectly footed between lavish texture and crystal clear minerality. This revered estate is carried on by brothers Jean-Marie and Thierry Puzelat, who have held tradition close, while simultaneously playing a part in the natural wine movement. Romorantin is an (increasingly uncommon) sibling of Chardonnay known for its irresistible minerality, comparable to Chablis. From vines varying between 3-115 years old (!), grown organically & planted on a 0.9 hectare plot of flint-inflected clay soils. Part direct pressed, part macerated for two to three days to help along the fermentation with more contact with the yeasty skins. Bitter flowers, creamy pears, honey from the first hive, bush pea tendrils, fleecy tarragon, lime bizou, the flesh near the melon rind, pile of wet rocks & slaaaate linger long into the night. Will age VERy well, wait as long as you can.
