The charismatic family behind Slobodne have rebuilt their farm over the past 25 years, and is now run by sisters Agnes and Katarina (and their two partners), together making some of the most exciting Slovakian wines we know! From river alluvium soils rich in calcium, the grapes are plucked from 200m above sea level and semi-carbon. . .

A vegetal and textural pinot gris for the freaky-curious twisters and twirlers amongst us. The charismatic family behind Slobodne have rebuilt their farm over the past 25 years, and is now run by sisters Agnes and Katarina (and their two partners), together making some of the most exciting Slovakian wines we know! From river alluvium soils rich in calcium, the grapes are plucked from 200m above sea level and semi-carbonically macerated for seven days to transform within itself. Like pinot gris attended a psychedelic retreat at a hippie commune where it took a wild and mind-altering journey through the universal consciousness and was never the same pinot gris again! At first you're kind of weirded out by the intensity of its transformation (like John after he met Yoko, or Wrecking Ball-era Miley), but in due time you realize that newfangled oddball post-commune Pinot Gris freaking rules. This wine is a big time extrovert, floral n' good stinky, rubbery reduction, spring asparagus, white currant and skunkberries, non-sweet Moroccan cookie, green orange & a bag of very bruised apricots. Pour alongside Torrey Peters 2021 novel, Detransition Baby.
