A local orange wine that appears as rowdy as Shania Twain’s, Any Man of Mine and as playful as an Aussie shepherd pup. Winemaker David Eiberg is situated in the emerging wine-growing region of Creemore Hills, Ontario and has been blowing us away with his delicious and expressive offerings. This 60/40 skin-contact, co-ferment of Pinot Gris and Riesling is no exception. As an added environmental bonus, these vines grow in rich clay soil that allows Therianthropy to use ‘dry-farming’ aka, no watering necessary! All of the delicious, vitamin-rich fruit, with little-to-no intervention. ‘Mouflon’ is rested in concrete with skins and stems for six months producing all the texture and this stunning colour – sewing together a rounded tannin textile of purple shiso leaf, fennel fronds, pithy pomelo juice & a subtle apricot nectar jam. This wine makes us want to eat campfire-cooked French toast for dinner, while the lapping of a secluded Muskoka lake keeps tempo in the background.
