Tempranillo & Garnacha, Toro, Spain
A bold, satisfying, and savoury red from rising Toro star Alvar de Dios. Alvar was born and raised in the powerful Spanish region known for fuller than full bodied wines. It wasn’t until he became fast friends with iconic Comando G winemakers Fernando Garcia and Dani Landi that he knew he was interested in doing something different, chasing balance and complexity from hand-picked, organic grapes of place. While his single vineyards are worth seeking out, his Tio Uco blend is all about lip-smacking satisfaction thanks to hand picking, whole cluster fermentation and 5 months of ageing in large French oak. Bunches of ripe cherries, Kensington spice market, new leather and hand rolled cigars. Drink while making an ambitious stew in your favourite hoodie.
