Conestabile della Staffa

Conestabile della Staffa
As the ornate bottles suggest, the Conestabile della Staffa lineup has an incredibly long history dating back to the 1700s. Located in Perugia, Umbria, it once spanned over seven hundred hectares! These days, things look a little different. Alessandra Conestabile’s husband, Danilo Marcucci, took over production in 2015, and in 2016, the now 12 hectares of vines, planted in the early 1970s, were converted to biodynamic and low intervention practices. In his more than 20 years in the field, Danilo learned about natural winemaking and farming from some of Italy's great masters such as Lino Maga, Eduardo Valentini, Cappellano, and Vittorio Mattioli & it shows in these textured, delicious wines. Working with a variety of regional and relatively uncommon grapes from sangiovese grechetto, trebbiano dorato & gamay del trasimeno, ready yourself for tasty new adventures. A glittering addition to the GW portfolio, welcome Conestabile della Staffa!
