We are never not raving about the incredible, diverse wines coming out of Sicily today, so revered as a hot spot for innovation and organic wine it has been described as, “the hip grandmother of the wine world”. We’d love to meet her! From the southernmost corner, winemaker Dario Serrentino’s piece of salt-sodden countryside is as stunning as when his great-grandparents farmed there in the early twentieth century. Situated in the Val di Noto – lovingly referred to by Dario as "a desert next to the beach” – their now 23 hectares are distinguished by ‘light lands’, composed of limestone-clay which brings minerality and sapidity, and ‘dark lands’, composed of limestone + organic substances that encourage balance and fruit. Honouring regional grapes like nero d’avola, moscato di noto, frappato & grillo, these cuvées are a must try piece of the Sicilian wine puzzle, and we at GW are so pleased to bring them to YOU!
